The Apache-Sitgreaves Observatory is a private astronomical research facility

with a staff astronomer to conduct the research using the only large-aperture

telescope in Navajo County; a 36-inch diameter, computer-controlled telescope.


Due to research priorities, there are no programs available to the public.

Our Location;

We are located on top of the Colorado Plateau in Northern Arizona along with other significant astronomical resources like Lowell Observatories in Flagstaff and Anderson Mesa, and the 4.2-meter Discovery Channel Telescope in Happy Jack, the Apache-Sitgreaves Observatory in Overgaard, Arizona is located at a world class dark sky site at just under 7000 feet elevation. We offer you access to World-Class dark skies using the largest public telescope in the Southwest US.

Our Skies;

The skies are not only extremely dark but very transparent, with sub-arc second seeing on most nights.
